To maybe push a bit, IF "you" would like to drive on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, I NEED to make contact with IMS management, asap. Since Toyota powered one of Roger Penske's Indy 500 winners, I think we have a very good chance of getting our cars on the track...BUT, I need to make contact very soon.
I have two variations of, for the meet...
1. Do IMS on Friday, September 24, the driving, as done previously, on Saturday, September 25.
2. No IMS, and have the meet on Saturday, September 25...breakfast at the Putnam Inn in Greencastle IN, then the driving.

Hi Galo . . .
Thanks for putting this together. Rather than have you listening to crickets in the response, I thought I would at least let you know that I will not be driving out from California for this wonderful meet. I hope it comes together as it sounds like a great opportunity. Thanks again for your support of the Spyder community.

I don't think I'll be able to make it either. Especially not in my Spyder. At best, I could drive the STi up there, but that's not really the same. I appreciate the posts over here so that I can find out about things every now and then when I remember to check in on the site. I'd like for there to be more action on here, but I'm not sure how best to accomplish that. OK, enough thread drift.
Please post pics of the event once it happens. I'd really like to see some familiar cars and faces. 🙂

Well LT, at this moment, there are 4 people; me, OKSpyder, phatts and SW-Indy. There may be a newish guy from Northern IN, a guy from IL and maybe some people from IN who bought phatts breastplate...don't hold your breath...

For anyone interested, the meet will start in Spencer IN. There are 2 restaurants, Chambers Restaurant/Smorgasbord and Crossroads 46 Dinner. Both offer real breakfasts, and C46D has a menu visible on Google Maps(click C46D, click menu). I'll try to get both checked out in the next 3 weeks. The start of the twisties is only around 15min from the restaurants, so that is a plus.

As far as driving IMS, you are the only other person interested/free, myself being the other. It would have to be Friday, 9-24, and I'm sure it would take contacting RP himself, which I have no fear doing. BUT, in my estimation, I would have to initiate contact very soon. That weekend is the final race for INDYCAR in 2021.

For those interested, I had breakfast at the Crossroads 46 Diner, 8-28-21, in Spencer IN. It is a typical, nice, small town diner! There are plenty of tables, so seating shouldn't be a problem. The staff is friendly and attentive. The menu has many choices...I had the Sunrise "Breakfast Favorite"; 2 sausage patties, 2 eggs, hash browns and whole wheat toast. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted great, and cost ~$7 with tax. I have no qualms having C46D as our breakfast location.
We may use Chambers Restaurant/Smorgasbord, also in Spencer, for dinner, or drive to Greencastle and eat at Almost Home, a good, more upscale restaurant(more costly, so I'm asking for your thoughts on this).
After breakfast, I drove the usual 1st leg of the meet "route" to check on road conditions, and was not disappointed...the roads are in great shape.
I should have the 👍 or 👎 on getting to drive on IMS this week.
