Good advice. I'll be on them like a hawk. There's some weird stuff going on here and I'm a bit worried.

If the car is totaled, check comparable models around you and make sure you get fair market value for it.  I would also ask for their evaluation to make sure you agree with everything.

Best advise. What I would do is start looking now for comparable cars with similar millage and options advertised at dealerships within 400 miles. Pick three  that are the highest and prepare a file.  If they low ball you  show it to them and they will capitulate because insurance is in the replacement business and once they know you did your homework they will stop with the tricks.  In the end you will end up ahead because no one pays that high especially if the area you live in like mine is higher than everywhere else.

Definitely. I'm used to dealing with insurance, I have terrible luck and get hit a lot in very minor ways lol.

Earlier I found an IDENTICAL car, 2017 Atomic Silver with F Sport package. 57k miles, $21,500. I just bought mine out from the lease for $20,700, and it has 19k miles on it.

She's totaled, boys. Frame damage that's a bit too expensive to repair.

I'm kinda glad it was totaled. I see major problems. The car was dead when I got there, they couldn't start it, but in the front fuse box a relay was going crazy chattering. Likely to have electrical gremlins.

The tech at the body shop went above and beyond. Helped me take the car apart and remove all my additions, like the LEDs and HIDs and aftermarket fog lights and rare OEM rain visors. Removed the front bumper for me and all. We spent an hour taking the car apart. Real MVP. Bringing him a bottle of vodka tomorrow. Springs and sway bars stay. I'll just try to get insurance to pay for them. Not realistic to remove.

2021 Toyota Venza? Mazda 3 Turbo? Golf GTI? Lexus UX? Corolla Hatch? Another CT? So many options.

Insurance hasn't given me a price for the car yet. I suspect there will be some fighting.

Here you go with something that I find interesting that really doesn't matter. This guy reviews various rations (C rations, MRE's, etc) and eats them. I think his record is a 120 year old ration. An interesting guy. Yep, weird!

@desertwanderer I watch that guy's channel too... interesting to see what our fighting men had to eat during different time periods.

@haloruler64 In December, my daughter was rear-ended in her Ford Fiesta by a Honda Odyssey, which pushed her into a Jeep.

Here's the van's damage:

Here's the Fiesta:

And here's the Jeep:

I knew the Fiesta was totaled for sure, but the thing that amazed me is that the insurance company totaled the Jeep.  It's hard to tell from the photo, but the trailer hitch is pushed in ever so slightly on one side, and the spare tire mount was bent just enough where it took two big guys to be able to unlatch it and open the back door.

See that's my problem with trailer hitches, tow hooks, and tow hook license plate mounts. "Let's bolt a strong metal structure into the frame that juts beyond all the crash protection and crumple zones!" It just transfers all the damage to the frame.

Thats why you shouldn't leave the hitch in the receiver.with just the receiver mine is 2 inches behind the bumper on my pickup. I have no reason to hang dingle balls on a hitch when driving around. Its a pain to put it in and out but I don't like having a shin knocker. hanging out  back, let alone a target for rear enders. If I used it every day I don't know that I would keep taking it out. But how many use it even weekly? I use it maybe every other month.

Blown, it is like lift, only bigger, better, longer, stronger, harder... and that’s just the car. The first Rotrex supercharged 2zz Spyder.

I don't leave the hitches in my trucks usually either, but that's due to having trailers with 2" and 2 5/8" balls as well as pulling wagons at times.  I have to switch hitches anyway and I'm cheap so I don't have 3 hitches for every truck. The other reason is people sometimes steal hitches.  I could get a locking hitch pin, but I've seen them seize up and then your stuck with that hitch in your truck until you cut through the pin, which is also a pain in the ass.

"shin knocker" ouch - funny that you would mention that. Both some friends and myself have experienced that. One time yes, twice maybe - but never a third time 😀

@nocoolname Jesus how low! Stealing a trailor hitch! I guess that I should have guessed, however. I had three 55 gallon bags of garbage stolen out of my pickup here in central Texas.
