[Sticky] Submit your glamour shots!

Last summer when we were allowed to gather in large groups, we had a community festival ( those were the days) and there was a vender that would take photos and place the image on crate board for $10 bucks. I had the Model A dog done along with a photo of our grand kids on our porch swing and one of me and my boys on a canoe trip down the Yough river. Pretty neat and very cheap.

I saw this during a walk today....

...and felt obligated to climb the tree (in sandals) to get a better shot. Would have liked to be able to get further away from it.... But this was the best I could do in the circumstance.

...was hoping for a little label that said "EAT ME" but no such luck. Guess I'll have to keep looking for the rabbithole.

Here is a large cockroach/waterbug/whatever that tried to bite my foot off this morning while I was washing my Sprinter at the coin wash

Pretty sure that's a big waterbug. I've seen some that big a few times. Definitely not often thou. Even kept one for a while when I was a kid. It was very much carnivorous.

But.... While we're on the topic of roaches... Hers is some Fear Factor stuff to put you off dinner. 

Who else here has witnessed a roach molting? Caught this just a couple of weeks ago...

My family is mostly from the Caribbean, so I know what big bugs look like... foot long centipedes and giant flying roaches are common.

I'd never seen one this size in the United States until now.  Definitely did a double-take when I saw it out of the corner of my eye

I am intrigued by most creatures in general... Centipedes are cool! I used to have one of those too, probably about 8-9" long. 

...giant flying cockroaches thou.... Think I'll pass on those.

I think some of the biggest bugs in my area are walking sticks. There is a local species that gets up to about a foot long. Centipedes and millipedes in the area can also near a foot.

Can't seem to find my own pics of the walking sticks today thou. Will have to take some more when they start to come out, I think I the fall.

@marsrock7 When I worked for a defense contractor we had an area that had been used to study the effects of radiation on different mammals. This was many years later and the area was no longer "hot". I was a grad student and thus got all of the really "fun" projects. (Translated, "the stuff real scientists would never be asked to do".) We were tasked to repurpose the former "hot" area to an area suitable for acoustical testing.  As we dismantled a wall another of my associates noticed that the wall interior appeared to be moving. Turned out that the wall was covered with a near translucent variety of cockroach of rather formidable size. This was disturbing to say the least. The exterminators said that they had never seen anything like this before.

That is the  TRD stage 1 kit. Actually the front and back is a replica and the sides are original.  

More from medium format.  Its very different than full frame.  It makes me realize I need to stop down a lot more. 

 The dynamic range on the MF is amazing. This shot would have been blown to hell with my old Canon.
