Any first hand experience with mounting a rear wing?

I mean the say 50" one  6" or so high on the rear deck.

Thank you.

Center it on the engine compartment, mark and drill the holes, mount...

I really didn't like the wing on my car, it made the rear view mirror useless, so I sold the engine lid/wing combo and went with a new engine lid.

Mono Craft GT-300 with a few upgrades...

I have the rear view mirror out, so no problem there 🙂

be sure to reinforce where the stands meet the lid.  a wide plate to spread out the forces will help keep the wing from denting the lid and throwing off any adjustments you make to the rear.

That´s good one. Thanks.  I was thinking to try use the reinforcing ribs; slide a plate between the rib and the sheet metal.

After all:

Had been looking at wings and the way internet works received Black Friday offers. On one did a counteroffer and it was accepted!! OOPS!!!

Ah well, free shipping from China expected to arrive between 22 dec and 22 jan so time to do the ground work.

It arrived TODAY, in just a few days. By jove, most express shipments do not get this fast up the mountain.

The package did not fit in the car through the door but top down it was a doddle.

So, do now I have a Silly Big Wing: The one gf thinks I am nuts, the other is angry, my son wants to know nothing.   The quality is véry good though and the satin black finish spot on to my taste. Need to get some wide masking tape first tomorrow.

take pictures of the wing in or out of the box. (doesn't matter too much)
is it a 3d profile? conventional mounting or swan neck mounting? how tall? how wide? how is the Wing camber on it? is it a straight edge or curved edge wing? endplate shape? FRP or Carbon? aluminum, composite, or steel wing struts? adjustable?

How fast do you drive?  Are you taking the car to the track?

What is good for Kai Kogashiwa and Masahide Fukushima is sure good enough for me 🤣 🤣

It has a reflexed camber line, more acute in the middle section.

Forgot to measure the thickness and variation over the chord before mounting the side plates.

Lower length : upper = 28 : 25,5. The middle section is shorter but more acute, maintaining the difference.

that won't need much angle of attack i think. with that amount of camber on the wing, it's likely to be pretty easy to stall

Measured it out so the rear is lined up with the rubber lip just behind the engine lid. The lip there under the wing add disproportionately to the effectiveness.

I plan on a véry shallow angle of attack.

All was marked yesterday evening but it was geting late so will get me fresh bit when in the village for coffee in the sun.

Not taken De Kikker out on the road yet. Have a list of brought forward things to do: Received a call from the hospital; need to be at intake early tomorrow for an operation first thing Monday. Will be at large over the weekend but several of the things need to be during working/office hours. It´s ´planned´ so no panic.

As to the wing, I have set it only a few degrees from the horizontal.

The looks are way less IN-YOUR-FACE than I expected/dreaded. The thing sits in a bit of an optically empty quarter and the satin finish is stealth 😎

I had thought of dressing it up a bit with decals but it might be best without anything, dunno yet. First thing is trying it on the road.
