But back to the car: if the top were in good shape, and not parting out, would the car be worth 4.5? The pre-facelift 1ZZ is problematic, but I didnt think the trans problems were very widespread. Isnt a "part bank" for personal use a little more valuable and worth paying a bit more? Certainly 4500 is too much, so whats a good price if one were buying it as a private part bank? The weather seals alone are many hundreds to replace, sadly.

My opinion the red car is worth maybe $2-2500 .... engine trans swap in the future . So you put 3-4 k into and it's probably worth $4500 .

All 1zz can be problematic , I have two 2004's one has 132k on it's already second engine and is ready for it's third , the other one has 123k and needs another engine .  The latter years are less likely but it still happens.

So in my view 1-2k for a parts car ...... and a 03 up are easier to part , side vents , rear vents , taillights , 16" wheels ... so their worth a little more money .

How do you drive if you're replacing engines at 130k? This isn't a Ford or BMW.

If you're asking me I have 20+ spyders .... usually one outta the bunch will run .  lol

Wait... time-out. You have over 20 Spyders and you don't have a Green? Are YOU crazy?

Everyone knows Green is the best color! 😉 🐸

...Well, except for the whole invisibility thing, but I am certain it isn't the green, that's just because people are now using cellphones to compete with slugs to win the National Who's Moar Stupider Contest.

Rear bumper is somewhat bulky but not very heavy. Worth investigation, if it were me.

Then you could sell the scratched one, or hang onto it and it could be your very first backup transplant organ.

Maybe Not Too Old can pick it up and haul it back to you when he makes his trip (and he will make that trip, by Gawd!).

Or, just hang it over your bed. The ladies really dig that.

Correct no green or dark blue .... I have been eyeing this one but he still wants too much plus it would cost 800-1000 to get it home .

Dark Blue was my third choice after Green, then Green. Seeing Halo's car here makes me think that was a good and righteous backup plan. There are no bad colors, but red tends to look the worst when it fades. It's just a fact of life. My poor The Frog needs a good polish too, but when the wax is fresh, it looks amazing up close. Pictures don't do it justice; the color looks like its an inch deep. Just stunning.

Lots of people don't care for the tan leather, and that's fine. I was kinda "meh" about it until I saw it, but I mostly wanted it for functional reasons. Solid black would be an oven here in the Southeast of the USA. The black that's there now is bad enough as it is.

Having had it for a while, the tan has really grown on me, until Dev planted the seeds of doubt in my head about the top. 😜 Even so, from a functional standpoint it is much cooler (reflective) than a black top, and it has grown on me also. Looks good with a fresh hit of Griot's, but I would like to stain it a shade or two darker. Won't try that, tho.

When the day comes, I will replace it with a pale gray fabric lid if I can, then figure out how to work in the rest of the palette, again with the same pale gray, which would be more reflective and blend the black and green very nicely.
